The Wall
Lake Lucerne (aka Vierwaldstaetter See; Switzerland; 2013): The paddle wheels of steamer "Stadt Luzern" ("City of Lucerne") steadily pushing the ship across the sun-sparkling wavelets. Its horn adamantly claiming space and staking a course among the many smaller craft. Passengers strolling the decks, watching the shores and sipping drinks in the late August afternoon. Ruetli, the cradle of the Swiss Confederation, recently left behind and looking back south at the knee of the lake, a succession of unforgiving rockfaces, forest stubbornly clinging to the ragged walls.
