Back in September 2011, the Grand Canal Dock area, south of the River Liffey and opposite the so-called "O2" concert hall, marked the boundary of the formerly sprawling urbanisation during the tiger years. Today, it continues to develop into one of the prime locations for business and living alike. Apart from being easily accessible via public transport and also close to the city as well as to the so-called "Embassy belt" area of Ballsbridge / Dublin 4, the area sports a big theatre, many restaurants and bars as well as the Grand Canal basin as the focal point of leisure activity.
