Abomination
Dublin Bay would be an even greater place if it weren't for the chimneys of the old Poolbeg Power Station. Those ugly fingers encroach upon just about every attractive view, land or sea, no matter. They're most useful for orientation, though, and if you manage to find a taxi driver who knows how to take you across the old Ringsend industrial area, round the power plant and out to the bottom of South Wall, you will be rewarded by one of the most amazing walks around Dublin: on the wall, right into the middle of the Bay, all the way out to Poolbeg Lighthouse. Be careful around high tides or in rough weather, though, for there's a short stretch before the last leg out to the light house which is lower than the rest of the wall, easily flooded by tides, waves or ship swells, which all might trap you on the wall for some time.
